Standing out from the crowd with Just:: Academies

Earlier this month a handful of Justees hosted another successful Just:: Academy – ‘Making work fresh and different’.

The event focused on giving advice and tips on idea generation and boosting creativity in the third sector. It was attended by a whole host of charities from healthcare and beyond, including ACLT (who promote bone marrow and blood donation) and the Savitri Waney Charitable Trust.

The Just:: team set the scene in our Putney office, decorating our big meeting room with inspiring quotes and creative imagery to encourage attendees to step out of their comfort zone.

The group used some of our bespoke Just:: Invent techniques such as ‘revolution’ (turning ideas on their heads) and ‘random links’ (using random objects to spark new ways of thinking) to help the charities think outside the box and generate more effective ways of communicating with their desired markets. Using these methods they were able to generate some exciting, achievable ideas to address their comms challenges.

This ‘roadmap’ helped attendees along the journey of how to turn a challenging brief into an impactful campaign that targets key audiences and really stands out from the crowd.

One idea developed was to create Facebook profiles for fictional refugees, to help engage members of the public and change perceptions.

We received some excellent feedback from the attendees on an “insightful and valuable” session. The real impact of the Academy will come as they take the innovation techniques back to their colleagues to apply them across their organisations!

As part of our A Just:: Cause pro bono initiative, Just:: hosts four academy sessions every year in partnership with the Media Trust, aimed at helping healthcare and welfare charities around comms-related issues.

Plans are already underway for our next Just:: Academy, taking place at our Putney office in September. Head on over to www.mediatrust.org/events or email justask@havas.com for more information and to sign-up!
