On Thursday 3rd July, we joined the cream of the healthcare communications industry for the glittering Communiqué Awards 2014 in London’s West End.

Just:: was nominated in four closely fought categories and we were delighted to come away with one award and two Highly Commended entries.

Our Head of Public Affairs, Jon Spiers, won his category of Emerging Leader in Healthcare Communications, with the judges saying, “Jon was amazing. He demonstrated a lovely sense of humility during a thoughtful and considered presentation. Although he’s still emerging there’s already a maturity about him and he’s well on his way. We liked his curiosity and self-awareness and, while he has his own leadership style, he’s clearly open to learning from others.”

Jon said, “I feel honoured and humbled to have been recognised as an emerging leader in healthcare comms. It’s testament to the supportive culture at Just:: and the importance we place on developing our people and letting them fulfil their potential.”

As well as our nomination for the Judges’ Special Award for Innovation in Healthcare Communications, we won a judges’ Highly Commended award for our project to build an ADHD Experience Maze for Shire Pharmaceuticals in the Excellence in Corporate Communications category. Using insights gathered from pan-European ethnographic research into the everyday lives of caregivers of children with ADHD, a series of rooms were constructed to form an experiential maze in the Shire headquarters. Each room was designed to help participants experience each stage of a child’s journey with ADHD, through the eyes of a caregiver.

Our pro bono programme, A Just:: Cause, was also chosen for a Highly Commended award in the Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility or Not For Profit/Pro Bono Programmes. A Just:: Cause gives charities a voice and provides them with tools and techniques to support sustainable campaigns. It’s a great way to demonstrate the value that healthcare communications agencies offer by partnering with patient organisations to create better outcomes for their beneficiaries.
